Position for Marketing & Communications Coordinator

The Intermountain Section AWWA seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist with membership marketing and communications efforts.  This part-time, contract position is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working for a community-based, educational nonprofit association.  You will be expected to take initiative and work independently while having full access to the Executive Director for brainstorming, problem solving and creative assistance as needed.

 

Responsibilities

·         Consult with the Executive Director to identify the needs of members and Section Staff

·         Assist in planning, writing and managing quarterly newsletter/magazine

·         Writing and/or editing copy for various print and electronic publications

·         Draft and distribute monthly emails to members

·         Designing graphics, flyers and other marketing materials for training classes, conferences, and other events

·         Update the Intermountain Section AWWA website (ims-awwa.org)

·         Maintain communications with members to enhance volunteer engagement

·         Update and maintain Intermountain Section AWWA’s professional social media presence (LinkedIn, Facebook)

·         Draft, distribute and pitch news releases, media alerts, and other stories

 

Qualifications

·         Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations)

·         Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus

·         Must be computer literate (working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher). Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, HTML and/or graphic design a plus

·         An effective communicator, both written and oral

·         Ability to communicate in a professional manner and work effectively with members, staff, press and community contacts

·         Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

·         Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space

 

Hours

Approximately 16 to 20 hours per week.  This is a short-term, contract position and will not include benefits.  The contract requires a 6- to 9-month commitment.  Contract may be extended for one-year periods following initial contract.

 

Compensation

Compensation commensurate with experience.  Chosen Applicant must provide their own computer, software (MS Office, Adobe), internet connection and work space.
