We had a great midyear conference in April!  Due to the popularity of the annual mid-year conference, and increasing number of attendees, the venue was moved to Zermatt Resort in Midway, Utah.  We had quite a good attendance, and appreciate all those who made the trip.  I think all felt it worth the short drive. Hopefully everyone made a new friend during the day.  The weather was beautiful, and the breakout sessions were well attended and offered quite a variety of topics to choose from.  Topics included; Source Water Issues, Infrastructure, contaminants, Water Loss (audit), and fluoride safety training.  It seems that every year there is a “topic of the day” that comes up just in time for this conference.  A couple of years ago, it was Flint Michigan.  This year, it was Algae toxins.  We appreciate all those that prepared presentations on all the topics covered.  We also appreciate the venders and sponsors, who help make this training and conference a possibility.  We were fortunate enough to hear from Marie Owens, the new director of the Division of Drinking Water, who was our opening keynote speaker.  We all look forward to working with her in the coming years.  We also had a great closing address by Gene Shawcroft, General Manager of the Central Utah water Conservancy District.  We’d appreciate Marie and Gene taking time to address us, and give us many things to think about as operators, and the changes we will face as we move forward in the coming years.  The conference was a huge success, and we will be coming back to Zermatt.  We look forward to seeing everyone, and more, next year.  We also look forward to seeing you all at the annual conference in Sun Valley this October.
