Utah State University Student Chapter
Kade Beck, Chapter President

In October of 2015 I began working at the Utah Water Research Laboratory while taking Fluid Mechanics. It was then I decided I wanted a career as a water consulting engineer. I began searching for ways to best prepare myself for the transition from college to a job that I would enjoy. I found that there was no student Chapter of AWWA at Utah State University. Seeing this gap in student resources, I contacted Dr. Laurie McNeill who offered direction and support in starting the chapter petition process.

As a chapter, our primary goal is to provide the necessary opportunities for students to network with industry experts, build technical knowledge, and provide leadership opportunities. To accomplish these goals, we will conduct 1 field trip per semester to visit a water/waste water facility. In addition to these field trips, we plan on hosting speakers to share how they transitioned from college to career.

Our first field trip was on April 21st where we visited the Point of the Mountain Treatment Plant.

We are grateful for the support of the Intermountain Section and look forward to contributing in any way that we can.
