Greetings from the Young Professional’s committee! 2014 was an exciting year for the Young Professionals group due to two main events; the Santaquin City Water Reclamation Facility Tour and the AWWA Fun Night.

The AWWA Young Professional committee teamed up with WEAU to organize the tour of the new Santaquin City Water Reclamation Facility. The tour was a huge success and was attended by a large group including engineers, operators and water districts. The tour began with a presentation by the designer and the owner of the project where some of the challenges of the project were highlighted. From there the tour moved to the reclamation facility site where the group was able to see the finished project. Overall it was a good experience and we’d like to thank all who helped make it happen!

At the AWWA Annual Conference in St. George, the AWWA Fun Night tradition continued. The Fun Night consisted of a trivia game show, hosted by Clint Dilley and Kirsten Heins, and saw the teams compete for the title of Water Titan. The questions ranged from the serious (average annual rainfall in St. George) to the silly (drought status of a nudist colony in California). In addition to the questions, minute-to-win-it challenges were performed by each team at various points in the competition, to the delight of the audience. Overall, a great time was had by all and we look forward to continuing the tradition next year.

Finally, we’d like to send a shout out and a thank you to Clint Dilley. He has served as the YP Committee President for the past couple of years and has done a great job. He is moving on to bigger and better things, though, and has stepped down as president. I’ll be taking over for him and hope to be able to keep things running smoothly without him. Thanks Clint!

We look forward to another great year in 2015 and anticipate doing more tours and continuing the Fun Night. We welcome any and all young professionals to get involved! We are always looking for more committee members and volunteers so please contact me or IMS-AWWA if you are interested. Thanks!
