The primary mission of every public water system is to provide water that is safe to drink. While there upwards of 100 chemicals regulated under the federal Safe Drinking Water Act and associated state drinking water regulations, none are as important, or have a larger potential for adverse impact to public health, as microbial contaminants. The CoVid-19 pandemic reinforces the immense power of microbial pathogens on public health.  This training event is intended remind and reinforce the water system of the importance of providing the basic level [microbial-free] of safe water.

This learning event is to provide water system operators with the knowledge, skills and resources necessary to protect (prevent) / detect (test) / treat their water from microbial contamination. This learning event incorporates the elements of the Safe Drinking Water Act including sanitary surveys, the Total Coliform Rule, and water system disinfection treatment.
