Scholarship Committee Purpose and Mission of the Committee: Create a scholarship program for the Intermountain Section of the AWWA that encourages education and training in the field of water supply and treatment and to support outstanding students that are studying in this field. The Intermountain Section desires to assist and encourage those in water related fields of study, to become involved with the Intermountain Section of the AWWA and pursue careers in the local water industry. Committee Chair: David Rice Committee Vice Chair: Still open Committee Members : Laurie McNeill, Eva Nieminski The Scholarship and Outreach Committee meets on a monthly basis to plan and coordinate the scholarship program and review and make the awards each year. We also want to help promote water education to a larger and broader audience. With that in mind, we are working together to partner with other organizations that have similar goals related to water education and the dissemination of that information to larger audiences. We are working currently on ways to get more information to high schools and possibly Jr. high schools which could help students as they are developing ideas and working on goals for future careers. As a committee we will continue to work to promote excellence in water education and try to provide further educational opportunities by funding several scholarships each year. For the 2010 school year, it was anticipated that we would make some scholarship awards this spring, but due to some timing issues, we will again provide scholarship awards during fall semester. See the scholarship guidelines for details on dates and to download applications. There are several scholarship categories to assist the committee in providing these funds for various groups. (Alane, Please forward the updated applications when they are ready so we can get them and the instructions on the website).
