#lushwithless #waterweek

"Water Week is a major annual educational campaign designed to provide public awareness and involvement in water issues, both locally and globally.”

Join Us for 2017 Water Week May 7 to May 13

This program is designed to Help Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts earn their badges/awards related to water.  Specific programs have been developed with lesson plans.  The Scouts will be invited to various water facilities throughout Utah to complete the lessons with Intermountain Section AWWA Staff and Volunteers. The Brownies (Girl Scouts) SAVE Water Award- The Brownies will learn to team up and speak up as advocates to protect water and keep it clean in their community. Girls will start thinking as a team about what they will do for water. By making an effort that moves beyond themselves, the girls will begin to realize the impact that group efforts can produce.   Boy Scouts Soil and Water Conservation Badge – The boys will learn that conservation isn't just the responsibility of soil and plant scientists, hydrologists, wildlife managers, and landowners. It is the duty of every person to learn more about the natural resources on which our lives depend so that we can help make sure that these resources are used intelligently and cared for properly. Specific activities that are included in the Scouting Badge Program:

  • Define soil erosion.
  • Tell what is meant by erosion-control practices.
  • Explain what a watershed is.
  • Make a drawing to show the hydrologic cycle.
  • Tell what is meant by "water pollution."
