Celebrate the World's Most Important Resource

This year during the week of May 7th to May 13th, 2017 we will be celebrating the world's most important resource, Water! The Intermountain Section of the American Water Works Association, along with our Water Week Partners, are happy to once again provide libraries throughout Utah and Idaho with materials to help celebrate with us. We hope that libraries use the books we provide to help educate people on the importance and scarcity of our water.  Each year we donate a book to all libraries in Utah and Southeastern Idaho, a Water Week poster as well handouts for the public on conservation and drinking water.

2017 Water Week Library Books

Trouble in Troublesome Creek is a lively book about five friends who make up the Troublesome Creek gang. They never go out of their way to seek trouble! They just go about their business of having fun, and trouble finds them. Each time, trouble looks different. This time, toxic trouble spots James just as he is about to drop into the gang's swimming hole. This trouble looks like dead fish. Even worse, it smells like dead fish, too.

What is killing all the fish in Troublesome Creek? Will it also come for James and his pals? James and the gang find the truth in a dark and creepy cave on the opposite bank of the creek. The cave is full of bats and . . . something else.

Water Runs Through This Book is written for readers, young and old, “green or not yet green” who are interested in participating through art or action to increase water awareness and water conservation. Through photographs, verse, and narration, this book celebrates the most essential ingredient to life: water.

This book and the photographic images presents a sense of wonder and mystery about water, presenting unusual information - regional, global and astronomical - and then describes ways to conserve this resource that is essential to life - from birth to death.
